Saracen Kili Pro

A British Mountain Bike Icon

The early 1990s marked a defining period for mountain biking. The sport was growing rapidly, technology was advancing, and British brands such as Saracen were producing some of the most desirable bikes of the era. Sitting near the top of the range, the Kili Pro combined race-ready performance with the distinctive character that made Saracen a household name among UK riders.

This project began with a simple aim: to create the ultimate expression of a 1990s British mountain bike while remaining true to the spirit of the original machine

The Restoration

The frame was refinished in a deep black inspired by the original catalogue specification. To complement it, we sourced and restored a collection of period-correct components that represented the pinnacle of mountain bike technology at the time.

A rebuilt set of Pace RC35 forks and a Shimano XTR M900 groupset formed the centrepiece of the build, while restored XTR hubs and subtle anodised details paid tribute to the customisation culture of the era.

Every component was individually assessed, restored or replaced, resulting in a bike that performs as impressively today as it would have done over thirty years ago.

The Result

The finished Kili Pro captures the spirit of British mountain biking's golden age. Mechanically renewed and visually faithful to its roots, it stands as both a rideable machine and a celebration of one of the most influential periods in mountain bike history.

More than thirty years after it first left the showroom, this Saracen is ready for its next chapter.
