Diamond Back BMX Circa 1980

Diamond Back

Diamond Back emerged from California’s BMX scene in the late 1970s, becoming one of the defining names of the sport through the 1980s. Distinctive frames, considered componentry and unmistakable styling gave the bikes an identity of their own, with original examples now increasingly prized.

The Restoration

This bike arrived in remarkably good condition, but the brief was exacting: to return it to factory-fresh. Achieving that meant going far beyond cleaning and polishing. The bike was completely stripped, its original chrome carefully prepared and re-plated, and every component individually restored, refinished and serviced before reassembly.

The Result

Perhaps the best restorations are those where the work itself almost disappears. Here, decades of age have been carefully removed without losing the authenticity of the original bike. The result is exceptionally crisp and precise - a Diamond Back returned as closely as possible to the condition in which it first left the factory.
