Colnago Eddy Merckx – 1971 Team Molteni Replica

This restoration pays tribute to one of cycling’s most iconic machines: the Colnago Eddy Merckx ridden to victory in the 1971 Tour de France with Team Molteni. A replica of Merckx’s race-winning bike, this build reflects the peak of early 70s performance engineering — and the unmistakable style that defined a golden era of the sport.

Every component on this bike is original, with the sole exceptions of the handlebar tape and tyres — both replaced for safety and rideability. It features a full Campagnolo Nuovo Record groupset, carefully preserved and restored to full mechanical perfection.

We opted not to repaint the frame, in order to retain the character and authenticity of the original finish. Instead, the frame was delicately cleaned, polished, and sealed to preserve its patina.

Alloy components were hand-detailed, with the paint infills in the engravings meticulously restored to their original tones.

All parts were fully stripped, serviced, and polished in-house.

This was a build about restraint, reverence, and precision - restoring not just a bike, but a legend.
